A day that makes you want to get up early tomorrow.

I almost skipped over the images from this day. It wasn’t heavy on images, and it wasn’t a particularly revelatory day, even if it was a nice one. I spent the day at my parents. They have a wood fired pizza oven that has a curious magnetism to it. I say this because its become a staple of their backyard, and it feels like its been there forever, even though its only 10 years old at this point. I built it with my father, extremely confident that I knew how to take on every part of the project, since I’d recently gotten off of a long stint of building kilns while going to grad school for ceramics. Normally when I feel this way and dive into a project, something catches me completely off guard. Something that in hindsight seems completely obvious derails the project and it gets stuck in a tradeoff no-mans land, where it will never get finished, or where the result is entirely unsatisfying. The pizza oven has however, held up remarkably well, and it should probably stand as more of a positive example of my cavalier hubris turning into something useful and long lasting.

My Mom has the same fascination with overly ornate flowers that I do. I imagine she actually knows what most of hers are called. These inverted tetra-petalled flowers just look like whirling dervishes to me, spinning around like they’re suspended on a string with their robes flowing out at 90 degrees.

I ended up on the hill for sunset, one that turned out to be clear, but still very colorful. I took a series of panoramas, but I think that the individual stills turned out better.
